You may follow any of the routes to arrive to Gangotri, but the most popular route is via Haridwar. From Gangotri you may follow the route to Chirbasa which is on the tree line. The beaten track and the serene beauty of the Bhagirathi Peak from Chirbasa will surely soothe your mind and soul. From Chirbasa your next halt along the Gangotri-Gaumukh-Tapovan trekking route will be at the Bhojwasa. The Gaumukh glacier, the source of river Ganges, is only 4 kilometers from here. The pristine beauty of the glacier will refresh you from all the tiredness of your journey. You might take dinner and overnight halt at Bhojwasa. Next day plan to trek the Nandanvan or Tapovan. As you climb up from Gaumukh to Tapovan you will come more close to the Shivlinga Peak and you will get a clear view of the ranges. After crossing the Gangotri glacier you will reach at Nandanvan located at the base of the Bhagirathi peak. Nandanvan is located only 8 kilometers from the Gangotri glacier.
Stay overnight in camp at the Tapovan. Follow the same route of Gangotri-Gaumukh-Tapovan trekking travel route to come back to Gangotri. During your trek along this route some of the major attractions that you will come across are the Trishul Summit, Shivlinga Peak, Tapovan, Bhojwasa, Gangotri and Nandanvan.
