Gangotri is located about 100 kilometers from the Uttarkashi which is one of the popular pilgrimage sites of Uttarakhand. The general route for Gangotri-Kedartal Trekking starts from Delhi to Rishikesh or Haridwar to Uttarkashi. The next halt is Gangotri then Bhojkharak. After Bhojkharak your next halt will be at Kedarkhrak and then to Kedartal. The return route is same. Starting from BhojKharak trekkers come back to Gangotri then to Uttarkashi, Rishikesh and then finally to Delhi. The highest elevation point in the Gangotri-Kedartal Trekking is 4500 meters. Best time to trek in this region is from May through October. Generally the whole trekking package at the Gangotri-Kedartal requires around 11 to 12 days.

The Gangotri-Kedartal trekking trail through the thick forest and cluster of rhododendron along with the breathtaking sceneries of the mountains will simply make you spellbound. You will also get a lovely glimpse of the Mount Thaley Sagar and Mount Bhrigu from Kedartal. The Bhojpatra trees are found in abundance in the Gangotri-Kedartal trekking route.
