The temple of Badrinath in the north Indian state of Uttaranchal stands at an altitude of 10,248 feet between the mountain ranges of Nar and Narayan with the towering Neelkanth Peak as an attractive backdrop. Badrinath got its name from the beautiful Badri Van.

Dedicated to Lord Vishnu this famous Hindu temple along the banks of Alakananda River is home to various other popular pilgrimages and tourist attractions such as Neelkanth Peak, Tapt Kund, Vyas Guha, Bhimpul and Vasuki Tal. The rock which has got the impression of Sheshnetra, a mythological serpent, is also interesting place in Badrinath. The Mata Murti Temple is also a famous pilgrimage in Badrinath, this temple being dedicated to Badrinathji’s mother.
