Vasuki Tal

Badrinath Dham is popular as one of the holiest pilgrimages in the majestic heights of the Himalayan mountain ranges along the hilly trails of the Tehri-Garhwal region at 10,248 feet from the sea level. Sited along the Nar-Narayan mountain ranges with the snowy Neelkanth Peak as a pictorial backdrop, the temple of Badrinath is believed to be one of the most-visited Hindu temples of India which was established in the ninth century by Sri Shankaracharya, the presiding god here being Lord Shiva. One of the most interesting places that one should not miss visiting while in Badrinath is Vasuki Tal.

Badrinath, one of most sacred abodes for the Hindu yogis and sanyasis since ages, is placed along the right bank of the Alakananda River. Badrinath is one of the four Hindu dhams which is visited by numerous Hindu pilgrims every year for attaining salvation. On your strenuous route to this famous pilgrimage of Badrinath you can explore many other holy places of the Hindus like Vishnuprayag, Nanda Prayag, Rudra Prayag, Deva Prayag and Karana Prayag. At Badrinath you can worship Lord Vishnu appearing in the form of Saligramam below the badri tree bordered by Nar, Narayan, Kuber, Narad and Garuda. Nandaban is a 6 km long trekking route extending as a part of the Gangotri-Badrinath trekking route and offering mesmerizing views of the majestic snowy peaks.

Vasuki Tal is located at a distance of about 7 km from Nandaban in its east. From Nandaban to Vasuki Tal the trekking route gradually ascends through an elevation of 10 km. This trekking route to Vasuki Tal from Nandaban is an extremely scenic one enclosed with the glaciers. Khara Patthar is a beautiful camping site along this breathtaking trekking route at a distance of 7 km in the east of Vasuki Tal.
