Devoted to Lord Vishnu, the 5 m high holy shrine of Lord Badrinath located between the Nar-Narayan mountain ranges of the Himalayas down the left bank of the Alakananda River, is one of the most-visited pilgrimages in the northern part of the Indian sub-continent. The breathtaking Neelkanth Peak forms a unique setting to the temple of Badrinath which is one of the most sacred places in Garhwal. This famous temple of Badrinath dedicated to Lord Vishnu is home to 15 sculpted deities of black stone.

The presiding deity of Lord Vishnu is flanked by several other deities. Origin of the Badrinath temple dates back to the Vedic Age which was rebuilt in the 9th Century A.D by Adi Shankaracharya. Located at a height of almost 3,133 m from the sea level and enclosed by an enchanting valley the 15 m high Badrinath temple is sectioned into three divisions ‘garbha griba’ or the sanctum sanctorum, the ‘sabha mandap’ and the ‘darshan mandap’. This famous pilgrimage in the northern part of the country is home to various attractive sites including Tapt Kund, Hemkund Sahib, Mana Village, Alka Puri, Mata Murti Temple, Santopanth and the breathtaking waterfalls of Vasundhara.
This beautiful waterfalls located at a distance of 5 km from the religious site of Badrinath attracts pilgrims and tourists from all parts of the country. You can move along the distance of almost 2 km of this track up to Mana Village from Badrinath to Vasundhara easily on car. The rest of the distance along this route to Vasundhara can be met on foot only. The name ‘Vasundhara’ itself suggests the exotic beauty of this famous site in Badrinath.
