Khatling Glacier is a lateral glacier, which is situated at Tehri District. It is the source of Bhilagna River. Khatling Glacier is a major tourist and pilgrim sites of Gangotri. There are snow peaks all around surrounding Khatling Glacier. The snow peaks are Kirti Stambh, 6902 m, Barte Kauter, 9579 m, Meru, Jogin group, 6466 m and Sphetic Pristwar of 6905 m. The ground on the side of Khatling Glacier looks like standing walls made by gravel mud.

This route is also a famous trekking location. The trek starts from Ghuttu. The place is easily approachable by car from Tehri, Dehradun and Mussorie and Rishikesh railhead. The trek is of about 45 kilometer and the path passes through some remote villages amidst thick Kharsao forest. There are also wide open lush green meadows which add up to the natural beauty of the place. There are excellent camping spots at the entrance of the Bhilagna valley. You will have to make the necessary arrangements for the tents and adequate provisions, well in advance from Tehri, Rishikesh and Dehradun.
The base camp for trekking at the region of Khatling Glacier is at Ghuttu. The distance of Ghuttu to Tehri by road is 64 km and from Tehri to Rishikesh is 83 km. the nearest airport is at Lolly Grant in Dehradun. Dehradun is connected through a lot of roads with other parts of India. Accommodation is available at Ghuttu, Gangi and Reeh. By rail, this place is connected with Amritsar, Bombay, Howrah, Delhi, Varanasi, Lucknow and other major cities of India.
The place around Khatling Glacier and the road towards it is visited by both pilgrim and trekking purposes. This is one of the major pilgrim destinations of Gangotri. The road, however you approach is of breathtaking natural beauty.
