Pindari Glacier is located at the upper region of the Kumaon Himalayas, which is at the southeast of Nanda Devi, the second highest mountain of India, and highest peak in India. Though, K2 is regarded as the highest mountain of India by Government of India. The road towards Pindari Glacier goes through some small villages, namely, Loharkhet, Saung. It also passes Dhakuri Pass and goes through the last inhabited village on the trail, Khati Village. The road also crosses Phurkia, Dwali before finally reaching to Zero Point in Pindari, which is the finishing line of the trail.

Most of the path is along the banks of Pindari River, but you will not be able to get the view of it till you reach Khati. There is Sundardunga river flowing through the Khati village which meets Pindari and this region and the origin, Maiktoli glacier. Persons also trek from Khati to Maiktoli Glacier, which lies on the other side of the river. Though it depends on luck, you cal see Nanda Devi from Khati, on a clear day with clear sky. The confluence of Pindari and Kafni is visible at Dwali.
The location of Pindari Glacier is at Bageshwar district, which falls in between Kumaon Himalayas. It is the most easily accessible glacier among the other glaciers of the Himalayas. Pindari Glacier is 5 km long and extends for 3 km in length and about 400 m in width. It covers an area of 339.39 square km. this glacier is the origination point of Pindari river.
