Road Travel to Yamunotri

The shrine of Yamunotri is visited by thousands of pilgrims every year from all the corners of India as this is considered to be one of the most scared places according to the interpretations of Hindu mythology. You will be finding Yamunotri right at the opposite side of Gangotri and if you are intending for a road travel to Yamunotri, then, opt for the road which gets bifurcated from Dharasu and moves towards Yamunotri. Dharasu is an important stopover between Rishikesh and Uttarkashi. You can avail car or jeep services either from Dharasu or directly from Delhi.

Barkot is also an important stopover as far as the road travel to Yamunotri is concerned.Barkot is just 55 kms away and from this place, you can catch the fascinating views of the Banderpunch Range. It would surely be a memorable drive. Barkot can also be reached directly from Delhi and it is just 334 kms away from Delhi. If you are traveling to Barkot from Delhi, then, you have to opt for the road route via Saharanpur, Harbartpur, Nainbagh and Naugaon. On your way, you can also explore Gangani or the holy tank, Gangayan Kund, the famous pilgrimage spot on the left bank of the river. You can travel by car or any other road vehicle till Phulchatti, 42 kms away from Barkot.



Then, you have to cross Syanachatti, Ranachatti and Hanumanchatti and each of these is counted as top tourist attractions of Yamunotri. Thus, road travel to Yamunotri would surely be an added attraction of the tour. From Phulchatti you have to opt for a trekking experience via Janakichatti. At this phase of road travel to Yamunotri, you can hire ponies, kandies or small baskets for carrying children and dandies. The road is pretty steep from Janakichatti and you have to climb 5 kms at one go.
