The Uniyal family of priests is only allowed to perform pujas at this temple and it is their duty as far as the making of the prasad is concerned and this family is also involved with the duty of distributing prasad to the visitors, who have opted for this place in order to offer prayers.
If you are planning for a visit to this place, then you are required to know that the ideal time to visit Yamunotri are the months of June, July, August, September and October as this temple remains closed from the months of November to May and the reason that lies behind this is that the months of November to May are prone to heavy snow as well as heavy rainfall.
