Ideal Time to Visit Yamunotri

Yamunotri, which is situated at an elevation of 3235 meters above sea level, is adorned with the Yamunotri Temple, which is the seat of the Goddess of Yamuna. Pilgrims travel from all over the world to offer their prayers to this temple and it is also to be noted here that Yamunotri is considered to be one of the Char Dhams as far as the Hindu pilgrimage is concerned and apart from Yamunotri the other three dhams are the Gangotri, the Kedarnath and the Badrinath.

It is important to mention here that the Yamunotri Temple was built in the 19th century by the Maharani of Gularia, but it is difficult for the visitors to make out that this temple got demolished twice for some reason or the other and it has been rebuilt in the recent years. The Uniyal family of priests is only allowed to perform pujas at this temple and it is their duty as far as the making of the prasad is concerned and this family is also involved with the duty of distributing prasad to the visitors, who have opted for this place in order to offer prayers.

If you are planning for a visit to this place, then you are required to know that the ideal time to visit Yamunotri are the months of June, July, August, September and October as this temple remains closed from the months of November to May and the reason that lies behind this is that the months of November to May are prone to heavy snow as well as heavy rainfall.

Therefore, it is needless to mention that you should book tickets to this place during that time that would allow you to enjoy your visit.
