Local Eateries at Yamunotri

Yamunotri, one of the sacred dhams of Uttarakhand India as far as the Hindu mythology is concerned has always drawn the attention of the tourists. The Yamunotri, which is also known as the source of the Yamuna River is located at an altitude of 3,325 meters above sea level and is also regarded as one of the well-known pilgrimage sites of the Hindus and the other three pilgrimage sites are the Gangotri, the Badrinath and the Kedarnath.

The Yamunotri is chiefly known for the Yamunotri Temple, which is the seat of the Goddess Yamuna and it is visited by millions of visitors every year. This temple, which was built in the 19th century by the Maharani of Gularia got destroyed twice and it went under construction or it could be said in other words that this temple was rebuilt again in the recent years. You can opt to walk to this temple or can opt for a horse ride, in case you feel that your health would not permit you to walk such a long distance.

After offering your prayers, you can spare some time to take a look at the surrounding area that would truly mesmerize you with its beauty and the Divya Shila and the several other hot springs that are commonly referred to as ‘kunds’ add to the beauty of this place.

After offering your prayers, if you feel the need to satisfy your appetite, then you could check out the local eateries at Yamunotri. The local eateries, which includes primarily the dhabas offers delicious vegetarian food, however it is to be noted here that the dhabas as well as the other eateries would not be able to provide you with non vegetarian food. It could also be said here that the cost of vegetarian food at the dhabas, would definitely suit the budget of the travelers.
